Bollywood actress Nushrratt Bharuccha recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to personally express her gratitude for the Indian government’s swift and efficient efforts in rescuing her from Israel during the recent conflict in the region. The actress, who had travelled to Israel to attend a film festival, found herself caught in the midst of sudden escalations in violence, leading to widespread concern among her fans and the film fraternity.
The meeting, which took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi, was marked by heartfelt emotions and a deep sense of thankfulness. Nushrratt, dressed in a simple yet elegant traditional outfit, conveyed her appreciation for the timely actions taken under the government’s Operation Ajay, an initiative launched to evacuate stranded Indian nationals from conflict-hit Israel.
Posting on her official Instagram account, the Chhorii actress shared a photo from her meeting with PM Modi, captioning it:
“Forever grateful to Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji for leading with such strength and compassion. Your efforts ensured I came back home safe from Israel, and I can’t thank you enough for that. Jai Hind ❤️”
Nushrratt had travelled to Israel in early October 2023 for the Haifa International Film Festival, where one of her films was scheduled to be screened. As tensions escalated and airstrikes began, her team reportedly lost contact with her for almost 24 hours, causing widespread panic. Fortunately, the Indian Embassy in Israel acted promptly, facilitating her safe evacuation to India on a special flight.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Nushrratt said, “It was a terrifying experience, one I never imagined I would go through. The sounds of sirens, running to shelters — it felt like a nightmare. But the Indian authorities were constantly in touch once they located me, and I am deeply thankful to Prime Minister Modi and the entire rescue team.”
The actress’s brave account of her ordeal has struck a chord with many, and her safe return stands as a testament to the effectiveness of India’s international rescue operations. Nushrratt’s meeting with the Prime Minister also highlights how the Indian government continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad.
On the work front, Nushrratt Bharuccha is gearing up for her upcoming psychological thriller, expected to release later this year. But for now, the actress is taking time to reflect on her life-changing experience — and the people who helped bring her safely back home.
